
Randy Boone Tosses Seven Scoreless Innings as Fisher Cats Win 3-0 in Portland

Portland, ME- Randy Boone worked seven scoreless innings and picked up his seventh win as the New Hampshire Fisher Cats blanked the Portland Sea Dogs 3-0 Friday night at Hadlock Field.
Boone (7-5) allowed four hits, walked two and struck out five. In four games in July, the 24-year old right-hander out of the University of Texas improved to 2-0 with a 0.83 ERA.
The Toronto Blue Jays selected Boone in the 7th round of the 2007 draft.
New Hampshire (46-53) opened the scoring in the top of the first inning. Darin Mastroianni led off the game with a double, advanced to third on a groundout by Scott Campbell and scored on a single by Brad Emaus (1-2, RBI, 2 BB) to make it 1-0.
In the top of the fourth inning, Nick Gorneault drew a two-out walk, stole second and scored on a double by Adam Calderone (2-for-4, R, RBI) to take a 2-0 lead against Portland starter and loser Jarod Plummer (7-5).
New Hampshire added a third run in the top of the ninth inning. Calderone led off with a bunt single, was sacrificed to second base by Brian Jeroloman and scored on a single by Jonathan Diaz off Sea Dogs reliever Tommy Hottovy.
Boone left after seven innings, Zach Dials worked around a single in a scoreless eighth inning and Danny Farquhar earned his eighth save. In the bottom of the ninth inning, Portland (47-51) had two men on base after singles by Jorge Jimenez and Ryan Kalish, but Farquhar got Jon Still to ground out to end the game.
New Hampshire continues the three-game series against the Portland Sea Dogs at Hadlock Field on Saturday night at 6:00pm with right-hander Kenny Rodriguez (1-2, 6.20) pitching against Portland right-hander Ryne Lawson (1-8, 6.65). Radio coverage begins at 5:45pm with the BayRing Pre-Game Show on the WGIR Fisher Cats Radio Network with Bob Lipman.
The Fisher Cats open a four-game series at Merchantsauto.com Stadium against the New Britain Rock Cats on Monday night at 7:05pm.
