Tonight, the SeaWolves continue a seven-game homestand as they open up a three-game weekend series against the Binghamton Mets (New York Mets) at Jerry Uht Park. The Howlers are coming off of a series win against division rival Akron which was capped off on Thursday afternoon with a walkoff win in the 11th inning. With the win, Erie enters play tonight is second place in the Southern Division, 4.5 games behind first place Akron, one game ahead of third place Bowie and 1.5 games ahead of fourth place Reading...The B-Mets have won seven of their last 10 games including a 6-5 win over Connecticut on Thursday. The Mets are in last place in the Northern Division, 16.5 games out of first. Erie is 15-8 in 23 games against teams from the North.

The ‘Wolves will play 41 games against Northern Division foes this season...The SeaWolves own the best home record in the Eastern League at 35-16. Erie has a .700 winning percentage at Jerry Uht Park. The club has won 10 of its last 12 home games...1B/3B Michael Bertram has been transferred from Class-A Lakeland to Erie. Bertram was the Tigers 39th round selection of the 2006 draft out of the University of Kentucky. Bertram played in 81 games with the Flying Tigers and hit .283 with 19 doubles, 10 home runs and 47 RBI (team-high). Bertram was the college teammate of Ryan Strieby...Righty Thad Weber takes the mound for the ‘Wolves making his seventh start. Weber is in search of his third consecutive win. He went a season-high eight innings allowing a run on five hits with no walks and three strikeouts against Binghamton in his last outing on July 19.

TODAY'S NOTABLES -

- Erie leads the season series over Binghamton 4-3. The SeaWolves and Mets meet 10 times in 2009. It is the most times Erie will face an opponent from the EL North.

- Erie's pitching staff is sixth in the league with a 3.78 team ERA. Binghamton's pitching staff ranks last in the league with a 5.09 team ERA.

- Erie is fourth in the league with a .264 team batting average. Binghamton is tied for the league lead with a .271 team batting average.

Erie is the first team in the EL to score 500-plus runs. - Brennan Boesch leads the league with 20 home runs, is tied for fifth with 62 RBI and is second with 43 extra-base hits. He is also tied for the league lead with six triples along with teammate Deik Scram.

- Erie pitchers have walked 293 hitters this season which is tied for second-fewest allowed by a team in the league. Erie is averaging 2.98 walks allowed per game. Erie is one of three teams to allow fewer than 300 walks on the season.

- SeaWolves hitters have struck out a league-high 805 times. As a team, Erie is averaging 8.21 strikeouts per game.

- Alex Avila is second in the league throwing out potential base stealers at a clip of 45.1 percent.

- Andy Dirks has knocked in 33 runs. 29 of his 33 RBI have come with runners in scoring position.
