Windy City ThunderBolts News Release
Windy City ThunderBolts pitching retired the final 14 batters of the game, but the offense was unable to dent the scoreboard as the Traverse City beach Bums took game two of the series over the Bolts 3-1.
Windy City got on the board right away in the first inning as with one out, Guillermo Martinez singled and stole second. After Martinez moved to third on a groundout, J. T. Restko brought him home on a single to center for a 1-0 Bolts lead.
Traverse City would take the lead away in the third inning on a sacrifice fly by Andrew Stafford and an RBI single by John Alonso scoring Andrew Barbaro and Brad Miller respectively for a 2-1 Beach Bums edge. In the fourth, the Bums got a sac fly from Miller, bringing home Brian Lapin making it 3-1 TC.
The bats went silent for both teams after the fourth inning. Dustin Pease and Adam Dominick retired the final 14 batters of the ballgame as the duo was masterful. However, the Beach Bums bullpen was equal to the task allowing just one baserunner in three innings of work.
Jason Kiley (4-6) picked up the win tossing six innings of one run ball. Despite being saddled with the loss, Pease (6-3) was strong going seven, giving up three runs, walking none and striking six.
The series finale will be on Sunday with Ross Stout (6-1, 2.21) on the mound for the ThunderBolts against Kevin Reese (4-3, 5.06) for Traverse City. The game is set for 4:05 p.m. with coverage on WXAV beginning with Bolts Backtrack at 3:30.
