January 9, 2005

Scott Stirling took the gauntlet and ran with it on Sunday afternoon as he stopped 41 of 42 shots to help Danbury edge the Komets 2-1 at the Ft. Wayne War Memorial Coliseum on Sunday afternoon.

Scoring chances were plenty for both clubs, but it was a goaltender's night as Kevin St. Pierre also stopped 29 of 31 Danbury chances. The Trashers opened the scoring at the 16:05 mark of the first on Jeff Daw's 10th of the season from Pete Ollari and Blake Bellefeuille. The other Ddanbury goal was on a shorthanded chance as Mike Bayrack netted his 19th of the season from Bruce Richardson at the 16:44 mark of the 2nd period.

Jonathan Goodwin's 20th of the season for the Komets came on the power play at the 0:51 mark of the 3rd from Colin Chaulk and PC Drouin for Ft. Wayne's only goal of the night.

The Trashers will have to wait until a possible playoff match up in order to get revenge on Rockford, who defeated the Trashers behind a 32 save performance by Michel Robinson on Saturday night.

Danbury trailed 3-0 before they scored their lone goal on Blake Bellefeuille's 11th of the season at the 5:33 mark of the 2nd period.

Eric Labelle, JF Dufour, Jason Ralph and Miguel Lafeche all scored for the IceHogs, who now have 53 points on the season, tied with Fort Wayne for the most in the UHL.

January 7, 2005

Danbury opened the scoring after the first Mechanics penalty for too many men on the ice, as Gretzky's first goal gave Danbury a 1-0 lead that held until the conclusion of the first period.

Gretzky would score again at the 7:24 mark of the 2nd on a shorthanded goal, then assist on power play goals by Mike Bayrack and Bruce Richardson later in the game.

Danbury's only even strength goal came in at the 17:05 mark of the 3rd period as Doug Christiansen scored his 11th of the season after he tipped in a drive by Mario Larocque. Bayrack earned the other assist.
