
Komets share UHL lead after 40 games

Fort Wayne, IN â The Komets have completed half of the 2004-05 campaign and after going 1-2-0 for week 13 of the season hit the halfway point with a 25-12-3 record for 53 points and a share of the UHL lead with Muskegon and Rockford.
Week 13 started with the Komets unable to make the trip to Kansas City Wednesday due to inclement weather. Wednesday's game at Kansas City was rescheduled for Monday, March 28. Friday the Komets dropped a 5-2 decision at Flint. Scoring for the Komets were Jonathan Goodwin and Tom Nelson. Goalie Tyler Masters suffered the loss stopping 6 of 9 shots before netminder Kevin St. Pierre entered the game. It was St. Pierre's first appearance since Dec. 5, coincidentally, against the Generals.
Saturday the Komets returned to Fort Wayne and stopped the Missouri River Otters 8-5. Skater Jonathan Goodwin notched his 2nd hat trick of the season while Chris Grenville added a pair. Also scoring for the Komets were Andy Townsend, Dustin Virag and P.C. Drouin. Masters earned his 12th win of the season stopping 30 shots in his 4th straight start and 20th appearance of the season.
Sunday the Komets were tripped up by the Danbury Trashers 2-1 in Fort Wayne. Goodwin netted the lone Komet goal. Goalie St. Pierre had his 7-game win string snapped stopping 29 of 31 shots.
This week the Komets will skate 3 games in 3 nights starting Friday when the Motor City Mechanics visit for an 8pm faceoff. Saturday the Komets travel to Port Huron for a 7:05pm meeting with the Beacons. Sunday the Komets return home to host the Elmira Jackals at 5pm.

4 Komets to join Puhalski at All Star Game.....4 Komets have been named UHL All Stars and will join Komet head coach Greg Puhalski on Team Mountain Dew when the game is held Monday, January 24, 2005, in Adirondack. Forwards Colin Chaulk, Sean Venedam and Jonathan Goodwin along with defenseman Jason Kean will represent Fort Wayne with coach Puhalski. It will be Chaulk's 2nd consecutive trip to the league's classic affair after appearing with the UHL Western Conference All Stars last season. Puhalski was selected All Star head coach for owning the best point percentage of all teams represented on Team Mountain Dew after games played Jan. 2.
