Mallards Take Three of Four Points

Moline, IL – The Mallards finished the 13th week of the 2004-05 season with a 1-0-1 mark. The team lost a shootout 3-2 to Flint on Saturday before beating Missouri 5-4 in a shootout on Sunday at The MARK. This week, the Mallards are at home for games vs. the Kalamazoo Wings on Wednesday, the Missouri River Otters on Friday and the Elmira Jackals on Saturday.

Deskins and Kompon Named to UHL All-Star Team

Jason Deskins and Mike Kompon have been selected to play on Team Mountain Dew at the UHL All-Star Game. Kompon leads the Mallards with 36 points (11 goals and 25 assists) on the season. He ranks second amongst UHL rookies in scoring. Deskins lead the Mallards with 12 goals on the season. He is second in team scoring with 26 points this season. The 2005 UHL All-Star Classic is set for Monday, January 24th in Adirondack, New York. Fans can vote for the starters on-line at theuhl.com.

A Mallards tradition continues on January 14th with Credit Union Night. For tickets to the Mallards annual Credit Union bash, visit any of 10 participating credit unions including Aegis Credit Union, Deere Harvester Credit Union, DUTRAC Credit Union (Davenport branch), Gas & Electric Credit Union, HON Industries Credit Union, KONE Employees Credit Union, Moline Municipal Credit Union, Moline Municipal Credit Union, RIA Federal Credit Union, River City Community Credit Union and Service Plus Credit Union. Fans can also get tickets to the showdown with the Otters by bringing five non-perishable food items to the Mallards game on January 12th vs. Kalamazoo. Old Time Hockey Night 2 featuring Frank Pellico

Legendary Chicago Blackhawks organist Frank Pellico returns to The MARK on January 15th. Pellico has entertained Chicago fans at both the Chicago Stadium and the United Center for years. His organ music thrilled Mallards fans in his first appearance and promises to do the same during his second trip to the Quad Cities.

· Wednesday, January 12th vs. the Kalamazoo Wings at The MARK of the Quad Cities

The Mallards host the Wings for the first time this season on Wednesday night at The MARK. The Wings beat the Mallards 6-2 on December 22nd in Kalamazoo.

· Friday, January 14th vs. the Missouri River Otters at The MARK of the Quad Cities

The Otters return to The MARK for the second time in six days on Friday night. The Mallards are 3-2-0 vs. Missouri this year including a 5-4 shootout win on Sunday.

· Saturday, January 15th vs. the Elmira Jackals at The MARK of the Quad Cities

The Mallards face the Jackals for the only time this season on Saturday at The MARK. Elmira carries a 17-19-5 record into the 14th week of the season.

Tonight, the Mallards are back at The Blackbear Lounge at The Lodge for Duck Talk beginning at 7 p.m. This week's guests are Terry Hollinger, Robert Gherson and Les Borsheim along with coach Paul Gillis. Duck Talk can also be heard on Fox Sports Radio AM 1230.

The Mallards meet the Wings for the second time this season on Wednesday night at The MARK. In the teams' first meeting, the Wings scored three times in the first 2:37 of the game on their way to a 6-2 victory. Mike Kompon recorded both Mallards goals in the game.

Friday, January 14th vs. Missouri

The Mallards host the Otters for the second time in six days on Friday at The MARK. The Mallards have won three of their five meetings this season with the Otters including a 5-4 shootout win on Sunday. In the win, Joe Dusbabek, Mike Kompon, Frantisek Skladany and Jason Deskins scored regulation goals. In the shootout, Paul Cabana and Deskins contributed goals while Jeff Reynaert stopped four of five Missouri shooters.

Saturday, January 15th vs. Elmira

The Mallards and Jackals meet for the only time this season on Saturday at The MARK. The Jackals feature two of the UHL's leading scorers. Greg Koehler is tied for fourth in the league in scoring with 52 points (24 goals and 28 assists) on the season. Jason Sessa is tied for eighth in league scoring with 45 points (25 goals and 20 assists).

Saturday, January 8th-Quad City 2 at Flint 3-Shootout

The Mallards lost 3-2 in a shootout Saturday night in Flint. It marked the third time in three meetings this year that the Mallards and Generals went to extra frames. Flint took a 1-0 lead at 7:02 of the second period when Kevin Kerr scored his 665th career goal on a Flint power play. Frantisek Skladany evened the game seven minutes later with his second goal of the season on a Mallards man advantage. Quad City would capture the lead for the first time when Patrick Nadeau scored his third of the year at 9:01 of the third. Flint's Bobby Reynolds evened the game with a power play marker 2:27 after Nadeau's goal. In the shootout, the Mallards were shutout while Reynolds scored the only goal.

Sunday, January 9th-Missouri 4 at Quad City 5-Shootout

An entertaining affair ended with a 5-4 Mallards victory on Sunday at The MARK. The teams traded first period goals as Missouri's Lars Pettersen and Quad City's Joe Dusbabek each scored on the power play. Dusbabek's goal was his fourth of the season. In the second, the Mallards took the lead on a goal by Mike Kompon at 8:26 of the period and extended the lead to 3-1 with a goal by Frantisek Skladany. Skladany's marker was his third in his last four contests. Missouri's Justin Quenneville and Barrie Moore scored less than a minute apart to tie the game at three. Less than two minutes after Moore's goal, Deskins scored on the power play to regain the lead for the Mallards at 4-3. In the third, Quenneville scored his second of the game with 3:30 left. Regulation ended with the game tied at four. In the shootout, Paul Cabana and Jason Deskins scored for the Mallards while Jeff Reynaert stopped four of five Missouri shooters to earn his 10th win of 2004-05.

Player of the Week

Paul Cabana is the Mallards nominee for UHL Player of the Week. Cabana registered four assists in two games this weekend.

Goaltender of the Week

Robert Gherson is the Mallards nominee for UHL Goaltender of the Week. Gherson stopped 25 of 27 shots in a shootout loss to Flint on Saturday.
