Toros clinch division championship with win over Albuquerque

AUSTIN, TX - Andre Barrett scored 29 points and Ian Mahinmi added 28 and the Austin Toros clinched the Southwest Division title and a first round bye in the NBA D-League Playoffs with a 126-114 victory over the Albuquerque Thunderbirds.

The Toros had four players scored 20-plus points and every starter scored in double figures. Kenton Paulino scored a season-high 21 points on 7-of-15 shooting from the floor. Josh Gross and Darvin Ham, who both played with the Albuquerque Thunderbirds earlier this season, scored 10 and 24 points respectively.

Albuquerque cut a 25-point deficit to 108-103 following Daryl Dorsey's free throw with 3:48 left to play in the fourth quarter. The Toros went on a 13-3 run to build the lead back to 121-106 after a slam-dunk by Ian Mahinmi.

Mahinmi, who is on assignment from the San Antonio Spurs, added 10 rebounds and five assists in 41 minutes of play. All-NBA D-League Second Team member Andre Barrett dished out 13 assists as the Toros improved to 30-19 on the season. Austin also won its 19 home game this season - setting a new franchise record.

Julius Hodge scored a team-high 30 points for Albuquerque, who fell to 22-27. Will Conroy added 25 points and two assists.

The Toros finish the regular season tomorrow night against the Tulsa 66ers at the Austin Convention Center at 7:00 p.m.
