
DerMarr Johnson Earns Gatorade Call-Up To San Antonio

NEW YORK - DerMarr Johnson of the Austin Toros today earned his second GATORADE Call-Up of the season to the San Antonio Spurs. Johnson is expected to play his first game back in San Antonio when the Spurs host the Seattle SuperSonics tonight at AT&T Center.
In 43 games with the Toros, the Spurs affiliate in the D-League, Johnson averaged 17.2 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.8 assists while earning All-NBA Development League Honorable Mention accolades.
The 27th GATORADE Call-Up this season, Johnson was first signed by the Spurs on Dec. 29 and appeared in three games, averaging 4.0 points on 55.6 percent shooting. He was waived by the Spurs on Jan 7.
A former University of Cincinnati Bearcat, San Antonio is the fourth team Johnson has suited up for in the NBA, including Atlanta, New York, and Denver during his seven-year NBA career. Originally selected sixth overall by Atlanta in the 2000 NBA Draft, Johnson has appeared in 342 NBA regular season games during his career, averaging 6.2 points and 2.2 rebounds in 17.3 minutes.
