The Toronto Marlies posted a record of 1-1-0-0 in two games this past week. On Friday night, the Marlies were defeated 6-3 by the Syracuse Crunch, AHL affiliate of the Tampa Bay Lightning. Carter Ashton, Andrew Crescenzi and Mike Duco scored goals for Toronto, while Drew MacIntyre stopped 31 shots in the loss. The Marlies went 0-for-5 on the powerplay and 4-for-5 on the penalty kill. The Marlies returned to the ice on Saturday evening, defeating the Utica Comets, AHL affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks, by a score of 5-2 at Ricoh Coliseum. Josh Leivo recorded his first pro hat trick, while Garret Sparks earned his second victory of the season. Korbinian Holzer and Spencer Abbott also added goals for Toronto. The Marlies went 2-for-5 on the powerplay and 5-for-5 on the penalty kill.
Look Ahead:
The Marlies will take to the ice for two games in Newfoundland this coming week against the St. John's IceCaps, AHL affiliate of the Winnipeg Jets.
The two contests will be played Friday and Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. (NST). Toronto has collected a pair of victories in two games against St. John's this season, outscoring the IceCaps by a combined total of 9-5.
Kael Mouillierat currently leads all active IceCaps skaters with 28 points (8 goals, 20 assists) in 35 games. Goaltender Eddie Pasquale has posted a record of 14-11-1 in 26 games this season. St. John's currently sits in 8th spot in the Eastern Conference, with a record of 18-14-1-2 for 39 points.
