Bridgeport Islanders News Release

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (Jan. 8, 2014) - The Bridgeport Sound Tigers have announced that goaltender Parker Milner has been recalled from the Stockton Thunder (ECHL). Additionally, the Sound Tigers have also signed forward Peter Boyd to a professional tryout contract (PTO).

Milner, 23, will enter his second stint with the Sound Tigers this season. He was initially recalled on Nov. 18 and played in four games. He earned his first AHL win on Dec. 6 when he made 28 saves in a 5-3 win over the Utica Comets. In nine games for Stockton, Milner has posted a 3-6-0 record with a 2.69 GAA and a .913 save percentage.

Boyd, 25, comes to the Sound Tigers from the South Carolina Stingrays (ECHL), where he has scored 28 points (11 goals, 17 assists) in 33 games this season. After a four-year career at Ohio State University, Boyd skated in 11 games for the Lake Erie Monsters at the end of the 2010-11 season, his only prior AHL experience. Boyd played for the Bakersfield Condors (ECHL) in 2011-12 and split time between the Condors and Stingrays last season.

The Sound Tigers will play three games in three days this weekend. They travel to Manchester for a Friday night game against the Monarchs before returning home to face the Portland Pirates Saturday night and Hartford Wolf Pack Sunday afternoon.
