
Toronto FC Sign Alonso Coello Camarero to a Short-Term Agreement

Toronto FC has signed midfielder Alonso Coello Camarero to a short-term loan agreement from Toronto FC II, the club announced today. Per MLS rules, the short-term agreement allows clubs to sign players on loan from their MLS NEXT Pro affiliate for MLS, U.S. Open Cup, Concacaf Champions League, Canadian Championship and exhibition matches.
Coello Camarero, 23, was recently called up to the First Team on a short-term loan deal and made his debut with Toronto FC when he started against San Jose Earthquakes on March 25. The midfielder originally joined Toronto FC II on April 1, 2022, and made his debut on April 3 against FC Cincinnati 2. In hist first season with the Young Reds, the midfielder made 24 starts and 25 appearances in the MLS NEXT Pro regular season. Prior to joining Toronto FC II, he spent three years (2018-2021) at Florida Atlantic University, where he registered three goals and 11 assists in 60 appearances. The Spanish midfielder was a four-time All-Conference USA selection and became the first Owl to accomplish the recognition since 2006. He was also a three-time Conference-USA Preseason honouree. Coello Camarero spent time with the First Team during the 2023 preseason.
