Club de Foot Montreal News Release
VANCOUVER, British Columbia - Back in action following the first international break of the season, CF Montréal is on the Canadian West Coast to take on the Vancouver Whitecaps FC this Saturday at BC Place at 10:30pm EDT (Apple MLS Season Pass, BPM Sports, CJAD 800).
In its last match on March 18, Montreal earned a dramatic 3-2 victory over the Philadelphia Union at Olympic Stadium. With Chinonso Offor's game-tying goal in the 90th minute and Romell Quioto's game-winning goal in the 98th minute (his second of the match), Montreal managed both a game-tying and game-winning goal in the 90th minute or later for the first time in Club history.
Quioto and defender Róbert Thorkelsson are back with the squad after international duty following their respective stints with the Honduran and Icelandic U21 national teams.
Entering into this match, CF Montréal's lifetime MLS record against Vancouver is 6-6-1, but at BC Place, the record is 2-4-1. For the Montrealers, this will be a return to BC Place for the first time since September 16, 2020, when the team suffered a 3-1 defeat.
In addition, there has yet to be a draw between the teams in any of their 10 MLS meetings since 2015 with Montreal taking home all three points on six occasions.
The 'Caps, meanwhile, stayed active in MLS last weekend, drawing 1-1 away to Minnesota. A late Simon Becher goal (90'+8') helped Vancouver avoid defeat. It was Vancouver's third consecutive game that ended at 1-1. And after five matches, the hosts are still looking for their first win of the season.
