
Topes Steam Roll Express in Home Finale

The Isotopes (74-66) scored eight runs in the fourth and fifth innings en route to a 10-5 win against the Express (72-68) in the final home game of the season in front of 14,855 fans, the second highest attendance of 2013. The Isotopes will finish the season with a 42-30 home record.
Scott Van Slyke recorded three hits for Albuquerque and scored two runs with an RBI. He also doubled. Dee Gordon went 3-for-5 and was a home run away from the cycle. Eliezer Alfonzo, Chili Buss and Justin Sellers all homered on the night.
After three scoreless innings, the Isotopes bats came alive putting five on the board in the fourth. Scott Van Slyke collected his second hit of the game to lead the frame off. Alfonzo blasted his third home run in 14 games with Albuquerque scoring two. Later in the inning Justin Sellers tripled for the fourth time this season driving in Alex Castellanos, who singled, and Brian Barden.
Stephen Fife did not allow a run through his first three innings but got touched up for two in the fifth. Engel Beltre singled and Joey Butler homered pulling Round Rock to within three of Albuquerque. Fife was lifted after four and a third walking five, fanning two and allowing two runs on seven hits.
The Isotopes responded with three fifth-inning runs. Van Slyke doubled in a run and Buss homered for two. The left fielder has 16 long balls on the year and leads the Pacific Coast League with 99 RBI. He moved into fourth place in Isotopes franchise history and trails Jerry Sands, the all-time leader, by eight RBI.
Sean White (6-6, 3.48) retired the two batters he faced in the fifth after Fife departed. The righty went 2.2 innings allowing one run on two hits earning the win. Blake Johnson finished the game going two innings. Mike Bianucci slammed a two-run homer to center in the ninth but Johnson shut the door following the blast. Only one of his two runs was earned.
Albuquerque tacked on two more in the eight to secure the big win. Sellers and Gordon highlighted the frame with a homer and RBI double respectively.
Evan Meek (6-9, 4.50) suffered the loss for Round Rock giving up eight runs over 4.1 innings.
Albuquerque will face New Orleans in the final series of the 2013 season at Zephyr Field beginning tomorrow, August 30 at 6:00 PM. Angel Castro (8-4, 3.51), the Isotopes Pitcher of the Year, will get the nod against Sam Dyson (1-3, 2.61) of New Orleans. Catch all of the game action on 610 AM "The Sports Animal".
