Louisville Bats News Release
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Top prospect Nick Lodolo recorded five of his nine outs via strikeout and Jose Barrero hit an inside-the-park home run as the Louisville Bats cruised to an 8-1 win over the Nashville Sounds Tuesday night at Louisville Slugger Field.
Lodolo, making his Triple-A home debut, whiffed the first batter he faced, struck out the side in the second inning and punched out Milwaukee Brewers rehabber Daniel Vogelbach for his final out in his 3.0-innings start.
The Bats then erupted for five runs in the bottom of the second, capped by Barrero's home run that etched the top prospect into the Bats franchise record books. Barrero missed an actual home run by just a few feet and his deep fly landed directly on top of the center field wall. The ball then bounced at least 20 feet into the air and kicked back over the Nashville fielder and rolled towards the infield.
Nashville forced a play at the plate, and Barrero just beat the tag by opposing catcher Luke Maile, diving headfirst across home to become just the fifth Bats player in franchise history to hit an inside-the-park home run at Louisville Slugger Field:
