Tom Brookens Bobblehead Giveaway This Friday

June 24, 2008 - Eastern League (EL1)
Erie SeaWolves News Release

The 'Wolves sit at 32-44, which means we are half-way through the 2008 season! The season has been flying, and so have the baseballs at Jerry Uht Park. Right now, Erie ranks 3rd in the league in homeruns, 1st in triples, 2nd in stolen bases, 2nd in runs, and 2nd in RBI. It is a great thing to be a part of an organization like the Detroit Tigers. They are committed to winning.

It was a slow start to the month of May that has Erie behind the Southern Division leaders at this point. It's also important to remember that 11 players from the 2007 team have already played in the Majors this year including Clete Thomas, Matt Joyce, Jair Jurrjens, and Jeff Larish. In 2008, Erie has seen Freddy Dolsi promoted to Detroit, and several players promoted to Triple-A Toledo like Freddy Guzman, Wilkin Ramirez and Max Leon.

Hopefully as former 'Wolves pitchers Joel Zumaya and Fernando Rodney return from injuries for Detroit, the 'Wolves might see some players return to Erie for a stretch run. We might even see 2007 first round draft pick Rick Porcello promoted to Erie from Lakeland. His 97 m.p.h. fastball will be hard to see but fun to watch!

Off the field, we are enjoying another fun season of promotional fun. The PSEA just recently sponsored an awesome fireworks show on Flag Day, and First Energy made our adult cap giveaway possible. With great sponsors like this, we can continue to provide fans great entertainment and make coming to the park more than just a baseball game.

And if you haven't visited the UPMC Health Plan Fun Zone, you'll want to check that out before the season ends. We drastically upgraded this area to make it kid-friendly and fun for all. And while you're down there, visit Barney at the Smith's Sausage Shack. He has a great variety of grilled Smith's products and a hot Ham and Cheese sandwich that is outstanding.

Thanks for the support thus far! We are ahead of our 2007 attendance through 34 home games, and we have some fantastic promotions coming up including the Tom Brookens Bobblehead giveaway, Noche Latina presented by Time Warner Cable, 3rd of July fireworks, an Erie Institute of Technology Buck Night, and lots more. You're gonna have to stay locked in to www.seawolves.com because you don't want to miss out on the fun in SeaWolves City!
