Toledo Defeated in Chiacgo 3-1

(Chicago, IL)- Kris Belan scored his second goal of the season, but the Walleye lost 3-1 today in Chicago. Toledo is 28-35-2-4 on the season and 14-18-2-1 away from home.

The two teams went end to end for much of the first period, but both goaltenders held the teams scoreless. Chicago outshot the Walleye 10-7 in the first period.

"I wanted us to finish these last four games strong," said Head Coach Nick Vitucci. "All season long we have played some of our best hockey against the Express. We just couldn't finish our chances tonight."

Chicago would grab a 1-0 lead at 6:50 of the second period. Toledo would tie the game at 16:29 when Kris Belan's shot would go off the glove of Chicago goaltender Rob Madore and into the net. Harrison Reed and Steve Miller collected the assists on the second goal of the season from Belan. The Express would go in front 2-1 at 10:50 of the third period when Ryley Grantham beat Dustin Carlson for the second time in the game. The Express would add an empty net goal late in the third to finish the scoring.

Walleye Notes: Walleye goaltender Dustin Carlson, in his first start for Toledo since February 4th, made 32 saves and is 4-8-0-1 on the season. Toledo is 7-6-0-0 against the Express this season.
