Steelheads Get Repeat 3-2 Shootout Win
March 25, 2012 - ECHL (ECHL)
Las Vegas Wranglers News Release
Las Vegas - For the second night in a row, the Idaho Steelheads won 3-2 over the Las Vegas Wranglers in another shootout contest tonight.
A scoreless first period ended in a close shots on goal battle, giving Las Vegas the slight advantage over Idaho with a 12-11 lead. At the beginning of the second, Steelheads forward Aaron Lewicki tallied the lone power play goal of the game to give Idaho a 1-0 lead. Less than three minutes later, Wranglers center Scott Campbell was awarded a penalty shot, and his goal on Steelheads goaltender Jerry Kuhn tied the game up 1-1. Idaho quickly regained their lead 54 seconds later, though, and a goal from Steelheads forward Chad Nehring made it a 2-1 game through the second.
Four minutes into the third, Wranglers left wing Adam Huxley knotted the game 2-2, and much like last night's game against the same team, overtime and a shootout were forced when neither team could score again in regulation. In five rounds, Idaho once again collected the 3-2 win, sweeping Las Vegas this weekend. Wranglers center Chris Francis and left wing Adam Miller both recorded shootout goals for Las Vegas.
The Wranglers finish the regular season next week against the Alaska Aces on Tuesday and the Colorado Eagles on Friday and Saturday. All games are at 7:05 p.m., and Saturday, March 31, is the Wranglers' Fan Appreciation Night. Tonight's full box score can be found here .
Playoff tickets are on sale now and can be purchased through the Wranglers front office at (702) 471-PUCK. Fans can lock in their seats by purchasing playoff strip tickets starting at $18 per game. Individual Wranglers playoff tickets are available by phone at (702) 284-7777, and can be purchased in person at all Coast Casino properties, Town Square shopping center or online at www.orleansarena.com .
