Trenton Titans News Release

READING, Pa. - Matt Caruana notched a hat trick as the Reading Royals (34-28-3-4-73) recorded a 5-3 win over the Titans (21-39-3-6-51) before 4,741 fans at the Sovereign Center Sunday afternoon.

Caruana scored twice in the second period and once in the third as the Royals built a 4-1 lead after two periods. But Reading had some anxious moments in the third period, as Dustin Cameron scored his second of two goals to chop the Royals' margin to 4-3 with 11:15 remaining.

It was Caruana who restored a two-goal margin for the Royals, as his third goal, with 9:01 remaining in the contest gave the Royals a 5-3 advantage.

Cameron's two tallies gave him 22 on the season and earned him the Third Ace of the afternoon. The other Titans goal was netted by Randy Rowe, who recorded his 20th, the sixth time in his ECHL career, which began in 2001-02, that he achieved that mark.

Yannick Tifu, in the first period, and Yannick Riendeau, the second, scored the other Reading goals.

The Titans return to the Sun National Bank Center for their final two home games of the 2011-12 season, hosting Elmira Wednesday and Wheeling Friday on fan Appreciation Night. Both games drop the puck at 7 p.m.
