
Todd Helton to Serve as Tourists DH July 22-23

Colorado Rockies first baseman Todd Helton will serve as the designated hitter for the Asheville Tourists on Thursday, July 22, and Friday, July 23, against the Hagerstown Suns as part of his major leauge rehab assignment.
The 37-year-old Helton, who played for the Tourists in 1995 after a two-sport career at the University of Tennessee, has been on the disabled list since July 7 with lower back stiffness. A five-time all-star, four-time Silver Slugger recipient and three-time Gold Glove winner, Helton is hitting .246 with two homers and 16 RBIs this season.
Helton will be available for media interviews 15 minutes prior to batting practice at McCormick Field on Thursday. Those wishing to interview Helton should contact the Tourists' front office for additional details.
The Tourists will conclude the current homestand with the two games, including Thirsty Thursday, with the first pitch slated for 7:05 p.m. both nights. After a four-game road trip to Kannapolis, Asheville returns to McCormick Field on Thursday, July 29, to open a four-game series with the Rome Braves.
