
Power Beat Down Tomorrow Night at Appalachian Power Park

Charleston, WV (July 19, 2010) - The West Virginia Power has partnered with Simons Promotions to present live boxing at Appalachian Power Park tomorrow, Friday, July 30th. The Power Beat Down is presented by Suddenlink, 98.7 The Beat and 96.1 The Wolf. Gates for the Power Beat Down will open at 7:00 PM and the fights will begin at 8:00 PM.
The night will feature three-round amateur fights as well as a series of professional fights. The featured amateur fight will showcase former West Virginia University football player and current Kanawha County Prosecutor Mark "The Hammer" Plants. He is fighting to raise money for Starlena Pratt Foundation and the fight against domestic violence. Plants, who weighs in at 250 pounds, will square off against Mike James of Scott Depot, WV, who also weighs in at 250 pounds. Other amateur fighters include Jeff Carr of Poca, WV, and Walt Miller from Lincoln County, WV.
The professional fights of the night will feature two four round bouts and one six round bout. The six-round fight and main professional event will showcase Huntington, WV native Jason Pettaway (214 lbs.) and Darrick Allen (210 lbs.) of Fayetteville, NC. Pettaway has a record of 5-0 with two knockouts. The two four-round bouts will feature Jason "The Mason" Pauley of Cabin Creek, WV versus Cross Lanes, WV resident Adam "Ironhead" Sepulveda, and Mike Wilmer of Huntington, WV versus Chad Blevins from Columbus, OH.
The event will also showcase a female match-up of two former Rough-n-Rowdy competitors. 2010 Rough-n-Rowdy Champion, Amanda Miller, will box against 2009 Rough-n-Rowdy Runner-Up Amber Morgan.
In the event of rain, the Power Beat Down will take place the following night, Saturday, July 31st. Tickets are on sale now at the Power Box Office. Ringside Table Seating starts at $50 per seat. General Seating is $20 in advance, or $25 at the gate.
The Power Beat Down is sanctioned by the WV State Athletic Commission and bouts and boxers are subject to change. For more information or to purchase tickets contact the Power Front Office at 304-344-BATS.
