Trenton Titans News Release
Last Meeting
March 16, 2012 - Dave Caruso was outstanding, stopping 34 shots for Trenton, but Kalamazoo net minder Riley Gill bested him, stopping all 26 shots he saw in a 2-0 Wings win in Michigan.
Next Meeting
These two finish a home-and-home by playing in Kalamazoo on Valentine's Day this Thursday at 7 pm. It will be the last meeting of the year between the two.
Streaks (Last 10)
Kalamazoo: 3-0 (6-2-2); Trenton: 1-0 (3-6-0-1)
Record (Road/Home)
Kalamazoo: 10-9-3-1 (7-2-1 last 10 on road, including wins in last 4 and 5 of 6 (lost in OT)); Trenton: 12-11-1-1 (3-6-0-1 last 10 at Home - all 3 wins in OT).
Yes, They Call Him The Streak
Mike Ullrich has scored in 9 straight games - a team high this year. Three other Titans scored in 8 consecutive games: Andy Bohmbach, Stephen Schultz and Marcel Noebels (twice, now in AHL with Adirondack).
DID YOU KNOW?
Trenton is 5-3-0-1 against the North Division (def TOL, FW and EVN-3x) and has been outshot by the North, 287-294.
Trenton has a 20% PP rate against the North (11-55), while killing penalties at a 77.5% rate (31-40, worst of the three Eastern Conference Divisions). It is still #1 overall (86.4) after a 4-for-4 PK last night.
With last night's 3-2 OTW over Reading, Trenton's 5 OTW are its most since prior to 2006-07 (had 3 four times). The 5-3 record is the only .500-plus mark in that time since 06-07, when they went 2-1.
On Guard 24-7
These goalies find themselves under fire almost every game
Every athlete likes to play every day - no one enjoys sitting on the bench. Well, for these two net minders they have gotten that chance to play quite often.
For Trenton, Scott Wedgewood has been a rock, playing in 14 of 15 games before last Saturday at Orlando, when he got a well-deserved break. He had played in 12 straight games (11 starts), making 30 or more saves in seven of them (high of 38 two times).
If you think that's busy, tonight's opponent in Kalamazoo will most likely start Joel Martin. That guess is really going out on a limb because he has started the last 31 games. That's no typo...31 straight!
His record has been solid too (20-17-4-1), ranking first in wins and games (42), while second in losses. He also boasts a solid 2.65 GAA (13th in the leagues) with an impressive .920 save percentage.
So have fun tonight skaters! Because if these two guys go - and they both are expected to - it's going to be real tough to score on them...or out-work them.
