Stockton Thunder News Release
ANCHORAGE, Alaska - B.J. Crum broke a 1-1 tie with a power play goal in the third period which stood as the game winner, helping the Alaska Aces send the Stockton Thunder (24-19-8, 56 points) to a 3-1 defeat before 4,010 fans at Sullivan Arena on Friday.
The Thunder fell to 2-5-1 in the season series against Alaska and earned its only goal from Maxime Boisclair in the second period.
Goaltenders Cody Reichard and Gerald Coleman traded saves in the opening period, with Coleman's key save coming on a blast by Kevin Noble in the closing minutes. Reichard made nine stops and turned away a rocket by William Wrenn at the right circle.
Chris Clackson buried the game opening goal with 3:29 left in the second period on a set up by Jordan Kremyr for a 1-0 Aces lead. Kremyr picked off a deflection by Tony DeHart in the right corner and fed a centering pass onto the tape of Clackson, who buried a wrist shot under the crossbar.
The Thunder responded on a clutch goal with 40.6 seconds left in the period when Boisclair picked up his fourth goal in eight games since joining Stockton. DeHart whipped a long outlet to Gabriel Levesque at the left wing, who spun a behind the back pass onto the tape of Boisclair, positioned in the slot. Boisclair fired a snap shot past Coleman's blocker.
Alaska killed an early penalty in the third period and the Thunder was victimized on an attempt to turn the tables, courtesy of Crum's first goal of the season on a power play. Nick Mazzolini fed an outlet pass to Crum, who carried the puck into the Thunder zone at the left wing and cut into the middle of the ice.
Crum fired a wrist shot from between the circles that beat Reichard under the pads with 9:07 left in regulation.
Zach Harrison wrapped up the game with an empty net goal with 1:07 left.
