Alaska Aces News Release

B.J. Crum scored his first Alaska Aces goal since 2010 to snap a tie game late in regulation and lead the Aces to a 3-1 win over the Stockton Thunder on Friday night from Sullivan Arena. The Aces extended their point streak to five games and increased their record to 33-11-5 on the season. Alaska lowered their magic number to clinch a playoff berth to two points. They can clinch on Saturday night with a win, a Bakersfield regulation loss, or overtime losses for both Alaska and Bakersfield. The two teams played a back-and-forth, quickly paced opening period, but neither team found the back of the net. Alaska outshot Stockton 9-8 in the frame.

The physical play between the Aces and Thunder elevated in second period, but the game remained scoreless late into the period. Alaska finally broke the scoreless tie at 16:31 when Jordan Kremyr stripped Stockton defenseman Tony DeHart and found Chris Clackson at the top of the right circle. Clackson sent a wrist shot off the crossbar and in to give the Aces a 1-0 lead. Stockton answered in the final minute of the second period when Maxime Boisclair scored his fourth goal and eighth point in eight games since joining the Thunder at 19:19. The teams went into the third period tied 1-1 after the Aces outshot the Thunder 11-10 in the second.

Alaska took the lead for good midway through the final frame when Crum tallied a power play goal from the slot at 10:53 to give the Aces a 2-1 lead. It was Crum's first Aces goal since the opening game of the 2010 Kelly Cup Playoffs, when he tallied twice late in regulation to lead a come-from-behind win over the Thunder in the Conference Quarterfinals. Gerald Coleman kept the Aces in front with seven third period saves to lead Alaska to their sixth straight win over Stockton. Zach Harrison sealed the Aces win with an empty netter at 18:53.

Gerald Coleman (16-4-1) made 24 saves on 25 shots in the win. Cody Reichard (13-8-5) made 26 saves on 28 shots in the loss. The Aces went 1-2 on the power play and the Thunder were 0-3. Alaska outshot Stockton 29-25 in the game.

The Aces continue their three-game weekend against the Stockton Thunder on Saturday night and Sunday afternoon. Tickets are on sale now.
