Trenton Devils News Release
READING, PA - The Trenton Titans rattled off a season-high 51 shots against the Reading Royals, but were trumped by Yutaka Fukufuji's 50-save performance in a 3-1 loss on Saturday night at the Sovereign Center.
Shay Stephenson provided the only goal of the first period as he picked up a loose puck on the near post and fired it past Rejean Beauchemin at 13:21.
The Royals were able to take a 2-0 lead into the third period after Stephenson picked up his second of the night - an unassisted tally - at 12:35 of the middle stanza.
The Titans finally got on the board when Chris Pittman one-timed a power play goal past Fukufuji at 7:47 at third, but Tyler Hanchuck answered back for the Royals just fifty-three seconds later to make the final score 3-1.
Beauchemin falls to 6-16-2 after making 29 of 32 saves.
The Titans went 1-for-7 on the power play on the night, while killing all three Royals' opportunities on the man-advantage.
The Trenton Titans head to the Sovereign Bank Arena for a rematch against the Royals on Sunday, March 26 at 3:00pm. You can listen to all of the live Titans action on WBCB 1490AM or at www.trentontitans.com courtesy of b2 Networks.
