SAN DIEGO - The San Diego Gulls look to move four games over .500 for the first time this season and extend their home winning streak to five when they battle the struggling Phoenix Roadrunners Saturday at the ipayOne Center. Phoenix has lost nine straight and 15 of their last 16.
SERIES HISTORY: The Gulls and Roadrunners have met five times so far this season with Phoenix holding a 3-2-0 series edge. The two teams will square off one more time during the regular season, April 7 in San Diego

VS. WEST DIVISION: The Gulls are 14-18-1 this season against the West Division and 7-7-0 at home.
LAST HEAD-TO-HEAD MEETING (FEB. 24 @ PHOENIX): Tom Lawson stopped all 30 shots for his second shutout of the season and the Gulls picked up a much-needed road victory, 3-0 over the Roadrunners. It was a battle of the goaltenders all night long. In the opening period, Ryan Cyr made 16 saves while Lawson turned aside 10 to keep the match scoreless at the first intermission. It was more of the same in the second, until Steve Hildenbrand finally figured out how to get a shot past Cyr with 7:08 left in the frame. He did it again 50 seconds into the third by beating Cyr with a slap shot and Pierre-Luc Sleigher capped the victory with an empty-netter with eight seconds remaining.
GULLS UPDATE: San Diego (30-27-6) enters the day with 66 points, seven behind the third-place Bakersfield Condors... The Gulls have already clinched a berth in the Kelly Cup Playoffs, marking the 10th time in 11 years that they have qualified for postseason play... San Diego is unbeaten in 11 of its last 15 games (10-4-1) and has won a season-high four straight games at home... Out of its last 25 games, 16 have been decided by one goal... The Gulls have only allowed four power-play goals in the last nine games and have killed 144 of 160 in the last 29 games (90 percent). They are just 2-for-34 on the power play in the last eight games (5.9 percent)... San Diego is 18-9-4 at home this season...
PLAYER NOTES: Alex Kim, who missed 31 games due to a broken collar bone, returned to the lineup last night and notched three points (2g, 1a). He has 30 points (14g, 16a) in 19 games this season and leads the Gulls with three shorthanded goals and a plus-minus rating of +16. He's also in the midst of a career-high 13-game point streak, scoring 23 points in that span... Michael Mole has played the third-most minutes in the ECHL (2,862) and has the second-most saves (1,399)...
PHOENIX UPDATE: Phoenix (19-43-3) starts the day last in the West Division with 41 points, 13 behind the fifth-place Victoria Salmon Kings... The Roadrunners, already eliminated from playoff contention, have lost nine straight games and 15 of 16 overall (1-15-0)... The only two teams in the National Conference that Phoenix has a winning record against is Victoria (5-1-0) and San Diego (3-2-0)... Former Gull Dean Tiltgen leads the team with 32 points (11g, 21a)... The Roadrunners have killed 51 of 53 penalties against the Gulls this season (96.2 percent)... They are 7-for-31 on the power play against San Diego (22.6 percent)...
TRANSACTIONS: Kim was activated from the 30-day injured list, while R.J. Enga re-signed yesterday... Erik Johnson was placed on the seven-day injured list Tuesday with a sore knee... Sebastien Fortier was activated, then released on Tuesday... Kris Mayotte signed and Richard Keyes was transferred to the 30-day injured list Monday... Kelly Askew was placed on the seven-day IR Sunday...
