Thunder sets team records in shots with 4-2 win against the S-Kings

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder (14-37-12, 40 points) posted four unanswered goals spanning the first and second periods, catapulting the Thunder to a 4-2 win over the Victoria Salmon Kings (23-35-8, 54 points) in front of a sold out crowd of 10,117 at Stockton Arena Friday night.

Elias Godoy was credited with the first goal of the game at 17:19 in the first period, giving the Salmon Kings the first lead. Victoria extended their lead on an Adam Taylor goal just 12 seconds later to make the score 2-0, knocking in a rebound past Thunder goaltender Jake Moreland's blocker. Stockton's Ned Havern answered less than a minute later at 18:28, cutting Victoria's lead to 2-1 to close the first period when the left winger cut down the left wing and sniped a 20-footer past S-Kings goalie Rob McVicar.

The second period was all Stockton, as the Thunder offense unleashed a team record 27 shots in to continue the torrid pace. Mike Lalonde tied the game just 17 seconds into the period, with Dean Stork and Nathan Martz its their first lead of the game at 3-2, only 29 seconds later, this time with Lalonde and Aaron Foster getting assists on the play. The three Thunder forwards teamed up again for Stockton's fourth goal of the game, this time with Foster putting it in the net for a 4-2 score with a writ shot from the left circle.

Both teams played stalemate hockey in the final period, with Moreland keeping Victoria at bay with 15 third period saves, totaling 34 for the game.

Stockton also set a team record for shots in a game, with a total of 53, eclipsing the previous total by one shot. The three-game home winning streak also sets a new Thunder franchise high.

Before the game, the Thunder activated left wing Aaron Foster off the seven-day injured reserve list and placed forward John Longo on the seven-day injured reserve list (post-concussion syndrome).
