Trenton Devils News Release
TRENTON, NJ - Once again the Trenton Titans fought back from a multi-goal deficit, but could not climb out of the hole they had dug themselves in a 5-2 loss to the Cincinnati Cyclones at the Sovereign Bank Arena on Saturday.
With the Cyclones leading 2-0 in the first, a season-high crowd of 5,435 saw the Titans get on the board when Scott Bertoli scored a power play goal off a rebound for his 23rd of the season at 9:47 of the first period.
Trenton then tied the score midway through the second when Tony Zancanaro lit the lamp for his first professional goal after receiving a pass to the top of the crease from Scott Bertoli.
The Cyclones picked up what turned out to be the game-winning goal at 12:12 of the second period with the help of the power play. Down two men, the Titans fought to hold off Cincinnati during a 5-on-3 advantage, but Conrad Martin found the net right as Trenton received a man out of the box. Chad Starling then put the game out of reach and made it 4-2 for Cincinnati at 14:54 in the second, getting behind the defense and tapping a centering feed past a sprawled Gregg Naumenko.
Mathieu Aubin completed the scoring with an empty net goal with fifty-eight seconds remaining in the game
Cedrick Desjardins picked up his 22nd win of the season after saving 31 of 33 shots, while Naumenko turned away 25 of the 29 shots he faced.
The Titans were 2-for-4 on the power play and a 5-for-6 on the penalty kill.
