Munce Stops 45 Shots To Keep Chiefs' In The Playoff Hunt

Dayton, Ohio (March 24, 2007) - The Johnstown Chiefs defeated the Dayton Bombers by a score of 3-2 in a shootout at the Nutter Center in Dayton, Ohio on Saturday evening.

Johnstown got on the board first when Maxime Boisclair fired a wrist shot past Dayton goalie Terry Denike at 7:36 of the first period. Dayton answered just under five minutes later, when Joe Cullen picked up the rebound of a shot from Paul Kelly at 12:26.

Johsntown regained the lead early in the third period when Radek Smolenak stuffed the puck through Denike's pads 2:16. Dayton would even the score at 14:23 when Matt Herneisen scored on the rebound of a shot from Yannick Tifu at 14:23.

The Chiefs would hold the Bombers scoreless through the overtime session, and neither team scored through the first five rounds of the shootout before Zbynek Hrdel scored to win the shootout on Johnstown's sixth attempt.

Ryan Munce made 45 saves on 47 shots and stopped six shootout attempts, while the Chiefs power play was 0-for-2.
