Trenton Devils News Release

TRENTON, NJ – Scott Bertoli's shorthanded goal at 13:07 of the second period proved to be the game-winner, as 5,177 saw the Trenton Titans skate away with a 6-2 victory over the Reading Royals at Sovereign Bank Arena.

Rick Kowalsky got the scoring started 6:32 into the game when he batted down a clearing attempt by Reading goaltender Barry Brust and fired into the open net for a 1-0 Titans edge.

The Royals would tie it up on a two-man advantage when Eric Fortier beat Andrew Allen on a one-timer at 10:20 of the first period for his 22nd goal of the season.

Trenton took back the lead with 1:06 left before intermission as Brent Robinson lifted Kowalsky's rebound over Brust to make the score 2-1.

In the second period, Reading again used the power play to knot the score as Jeff Miles made it 2-2 at 7:48. The Titans broke the game open after that with Bertoli's shorthanded tally – his 25th goal of the season - and Tim Judy's first professional goal notched just thirty-nine seconds later.

In the final period, Bertoli recorded his second of the evening while Leon Hayward also tallied to complete the scoring.

The Titans have now won seven of their last eight games as Allen stopped 27 of 29 shots for his 24th win of the year. Allen has not lost at home since January 9 against the Bakersfield Condors.

Trenton was 1-for-5 on the power play and 3-for-5 on the penalty kill.

The Titans finish their three-game homestand on Wednesday, March 30 versus the Peoria Rivermen at 7:00pm. Tune into to Moneytalk 1350AM to hear all of the Titans hockey action. Fans can also go to www.trentontitans.com to listen or watch live.
