COVFEFE: The TinCaps overcame a pair of 3-run deficits but eventually fell to the Hot Rods, 12-9. Every Fort Wayne player had at least 1 hit, including Jack Suwinski and G.K. Young, who both homered.

ALUMNI REPORT: With 5 former TinCaps in the starting lineup, the Padres beat the Cubs for the second day in a row, 6-2. Dinelson Lamet (2015) started on the mound and earned the win with 5 innings of 2-run ball. He struck out 8 and only walked 1. At the plate, catcher Austin Hedges (2012) hit a 2-run homer, and right fielder Hunter Renfroe (2013) drove in 2 with a double. Third baseman Cory Spangenberg (2011) doubled, too, and center fielder Franchy Cordero (2014-15) had a hit as well. Reliever Kevin Quackenbush (2011) also made an appearance.

PARKVIEW FIELD DEBUT: TinCaps starter Mason Thompson is making his home debut today after joining the team on the road last season. Thompson, 19, is rated as San Diego's No. 21 prospect. He was drafted in the 3rd round last season out of high school in Texas. (See the next page for more.)

SUN'S OUT, WINS OUT: The TinCaps are 10-6 in day games.

HOT YOUNG: G.K. Young is 8-for-18 (.444) with a double, 2 home runs, and 5 RBIs during a 5-game hitting streak. He's the first TinCap to homer in consecutive games since Marcus Greene Jr. homered in 3 straight last July.

TATIS AT THE TOP: Fernando Tatis Jr., last week's MWL Player of the Week, has slashed .366/.432/.662 in 18 games in the leadoff spot. (In 27 games batting third, he's .202/.298/.293.)

TOP 10: In the MWL, Fernando Tatis Jr. is tied for 2nd in games played (49), 10th in hits (51), and 10th in total bases (83)... Jack Suwinski is tied for 2nd in games (49) and is 3rd in walks (31)... Eguy Rosario is tied for 3rd in stolen bases (16).

AS A TEAM: The TinCaps are tied for 3rd in the MWL in stolen bases (51).

WELCOME BACK: After their longest road trip of the year (8 games), the TinCaps are in the midst of playing 10 of 13 at Parkview Field, and 13 of their final 19 games at home to end the season's first half.
