Fort Wayne TinCaps News Release

Fort Wayne, IN - The Fort Wayne TinCaps came from behind to top the Great Lakes Loons, 8-4, Saturday on Independence Day at Parkview Field. RHP Anthony Bass picked up the win in his fifth straight start and every batter in the Fort Wayne lineup reached base safely. A four-run 6th inning put the TinCaps in front for good. In the top of the 3rd, the Loons jumped ahead on two-out RBI singles by Jamie Pedroza and Nick Buss.

The TinCaps chipped away in the 4th when Jaff Decker slugged a solo home run to rightcenter in his first game back from the disabled list. In the 5th, Blake Tekotte drilled a game-tying double into the right-field corner to plate Daniel Robertson, extending Tekotte's hitting streak to 15 games.

Fort Wayne exploded in the 6th inning against reliever Jordan Pratt. Allan Dykstra drew a leadoff walk, went to second and third on wild pitches and two batters later, scored on Yefri Carvajal's triple to right-center. Robert Lara followed with an RBI single to make it 4-2. After a walk to Robertson, Tekotte drilled a two-run double down the left-field line to give Fort Wayne a 6-2 lead.

The Loons jumped on RHP Eduardo Perez in the 7th when Tony Delmonico hammered a leadoff home run to cut it to a 6-3 margin. After allowing a single to the next batter, Perez retired seven consecutive hitters.

Meanwhile, the TinCaps tacked on insurance runs; in the 7th, Carvajal's sacrifice fly scored Justin Baum and in the 8th, Drew Cumberland laced an RBI single to right to make it 8- 3.

In the top of the 9th, Perez plunked Delmonico. He later scored on a fielder's choice to finish the scoring at 8-4. Bass (8-3) picked up the win, allowing just two runs (one earned) in six innings. Perez notched his first save since 2007. Pratt (1-4) took the loss.

The TinCaps, winners of four in a row, ran their record to 53-26 overall, 8-1 in the second half. Great Lakes stumbled to 44-35, 4-5 in the half.

The teams continue the four-game series Sunday at 3:05pm. Fort Wayne LHP Mike Watt (2-2) faces his former organization (he was originally drafted by the Dodgers in 2007). He is opposed by Loons RHP Josh Walter (5-1).
