Portland Timbers News Release
PORTLAND, Ore. - The Portland Timbers play host to the LA Galaxy, in a match presented by adidas, on Saturday, July 27, at Providence Park. Beginning at 7:30 p.m. (Pacific), the match features a national television broadcast on FS1 with local radio broadcasts on 1029 and 750 The Game (English) and La GranD 1150AM/93.5 FM (Spanish).
Recent form
Portland (8-8-4, 28pts) extended its unbeaten streak to six games in all competitions with a 2-1 win on the road against Seattle Sounders FC on July 21. It was the Timbers' sixth road win of the season, which is tied for the most road wins in MLS in 2019. Entering Saturday's match, Portland is unbeaten in its last five home matches (3-0-2) across all competitions, outscoring opponents 12-3 during that span. Dating back to the conclusion of the 2018 season, the Timbers are 7-1-2 in their last 10 MLS matches at Providence Park.
Against the Galaxy
Saturday's match marks the third meeting across all competitions between Portland and the Galaxy in 2019. In the last meeting, the Timbers earned a 4-0 win in the quarterfinal round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup on June 19 at Providence Park, receiving goals from Brian Fernandez, Sebastián Blanco and Jorge Moreira. Portland and the Galaxy square off for the 322nd time in MLS regular-season play on Saturday, with the Timbers posting a record of 4-2-3 all-time at Providence Park in league play.
On the attack
Fernandez recorded his third brace with the Timbers in all competitions, and his second brace in MLS play in the club's win at Seattle. Fernandez has now scored a team-leading eight goals in nine MLS games. In all competitions, Fernandez has scored 11 goals in 12 matches. Fernandez also recorded his first career assist in Portland's 1-1 draw at home against Orlando City SC on June 18. He is the 11th different player to record an assist for the Timbers in 2019. Diego Valeri and Blanco both registered assists in the win over Sounders FC on July 21. For Valeri, it was his 11th assist of the season, which ranks as the third-most in MLS, while Blanco delivered his eighth assist of 2019. Blanco has recorded eight or more assists in all three of his seasons with Portland.

The Timbers travel for a road match against Minnesota United FC on Sunday, Aug. 4, at Allianz Field in St. Paul, Minn. Beginning at 1 p.m. (Pacific), the match will feature a national television broadcast on ESPN with local radio broadcasts on 1029 and 750 The Game (English) and La GranD 1150AM/93.5 FM (Spanish).
