
Timbers Rally from Two-Goal Deficit to Secure 2-2 Road Draw against Houston Dynamo FC

HOUSTON - The Portland Timbers rallied for a two-goal deficit, scoring a pair of second-half goals to earn a point on the road with a 2-2 draw against Houston Dynamo FC at BBVA Stadium on Wednesday night. Dairon Asprilla scored five minutes into the second half, while Jeremy Ebobisse notched the game-tying goal in second-half stoppage time.
Goal Scorers
Asprilla tallied his third goal of the 2021 campaign, and his 16th career goal across all competitions. It marked his second consecutive match with a goal, and his second goal against Houston this season. Ebobisse's equalizer was his first goal of the campaign in stoppage time. With the goal, Ebobisse became the ninth different player to score for Portland in 2021.
Unbeaten Streak vs. Houston Dynamo
The Timbers extended their unbeaten streak against Houston to five matches, dating back to May 15, 2019. In those five matches, Portland holds a record of 3-0-2, with a goal differential of 10-4.
Goal-Scoring Plays
HOU - Fafa Picault (Maynor Figueroa), 15th minute: Tyler Pasher sent in a corner to the far post, and Matías Vera drove a shot on frame forcing a save from Timbers goalkeeper Aljaz Ivacic. Picault pounced on the rebound, converting from close range with a header.
HOU - Tyler Pasher (Matías Vera), 33rd minute: Vera played a pass to Pasher near the top of the box. Pasher took a touch to get the ball onto his right foot, and curled his shot inside the right post.
POR - Dairon Asprilla (Claudio Bravo), 50th minute: On the counter-attack, Asprilla dribbled up field, combining for a give-and-go with Bravo. Asprilla received the ball inside the box and lifted the ball over the Houston goalkeeper near the edge of the six-yard box for the finish.
POR - Jeremy Ebobisse (Larrys Mabiala, Josecarlos Van Rankin), 90+1 minute: Van Rankin played a short pass to Mabiala on the right flank, who sent a looping cross to Ebobisse in the center of box. Ebobisse met the ball in the air, flicking it into the corner netting with his head.
Notes
The Timbers are now 8-5-6 all-time against the Dynamo FC.
Portland extended their unbeaten streak against Houston to five matches.
Asprilla scored his third goal of the 2021 campaign, and has now scored in two straight matches for the Timbers.
Tonight's goal was Asprilla's second against the Dynamo FC this season.
Ebobisse scored his first goal of the 2021 campaign and the 27th of his career in the match.
Nine different players have scored across nine regular season matches for Portland this season.
Bravo tallied his first career assist for the Timbers.
Bravo is the only player to appear in all nine regular season matches, and all 13 matches across all competitions for the Timbers in 2021. In addition, he has started every match.
Aljaz Ivacic made his 2021 season debut, recording two saves.
