Houston Dynamo FC News Release
HOUSTON - Houston Dynamo FC remain unbeaten at BBVA Stadium after tonight's 2-2 draw against Portland Timbers FC.
The Dynamo jumped to an early lead in the 15th minute after a scramble in the box following a corner kick from forward Tyler Pasher. The corner kick found forward Maxi Urruti at the far post and he forced a save from Timbers goalkeeper goalkeeper Aljaz Ivacic. Both defender Maynor Figueroa and forward Fafa Picault pounced on the ball with the Honduran defender getting the first touch and Picault heading the ball into the back of the net.
Houston's second goal came in the 33rd minute after Pasher fired a right-footed shot into the right corner past the reach of Ivacic. Dynamo midfielder Matias Vera assisted Pasher's goal, logging his first assist of the season.
Portland got on the scoreboard against the run of play in the 50th minute after Timbers' midfielder Dairon Asprilla and Claudio Bravo caught the Dynamo backline out of position. Asprilla found the back of the net after a 60-yard run into the box to lob the ball into the back of the net.
Portland's equalizer came at the 92nd minute after Josecarlos Van Rankin's cross found Jeremy Ebobisse inside the box to net the equalizer.
Houston took their chances from the start with one of the best opportunities coming off a header from Figueroa in the 28th minute that hit the crossbar.
Portland's most dangerous shot in the first half came at the 42nd minute after forward Jeremy Ebobisse made a run toward the end line and found midfielder Eryk Williamson with a cross, but his effort hit the crossbar.
The Dynamo will continue this two-game week in Utah to take on Real Salt Lake for the first time this season on June 26 at 7:00 p.m. CT.
