PORTLAND, Ore. - Returning to Providence Park for their first home match since March 8, the Portland Timbers fell 3-0 to Seattle Sounders FC on Sunday night. Facing a quick turnaround, the Timbers play their first road contest of the season on Wednesday, Aug. 26, against the San Jose Earthquakes.
Goal-Scoring Plays
SEA - Raúl RuidÃÂaz (Joevin Jones, Nicolás Lodeiro), 72nd minute: Joevin Jones delivered a cross from the left edge of the box to Raúl RuidÃÂaz, who re-directed the ball from the corner of the six-yard box just inside the left post.
SEA - Raúl RuidÃÂaz, 83rd minute: Stefan Frei played a drop kick from inside his goal box that was flicked on by Will Bruin to RuidÃÂaz, making a run in behind the Timbers backline. RuidÃÂaz dribbled into the box and converted from close range.
SEA - Kelvin Leerdam (Raúl RuidÃÂaz, Will Bruin), 85th minute: RuidÃÂaz received a pass inside the box and laid the ball off for Kelvin Leerdam, who made a late run toward goal and finished just outside the six-yard box.
