Wheeling Nailers News Release

Tim Wallace became the 37th former Wheeling Nailers player and 4th this season to make it to the NHL when he made his NHL debut Wednesday night for the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Nailers hold the ECHL record for most alumni to play in "The Show."

Wallace skated for the Nailers in 2006-07 appearing in 19 games and scoring 6 goals and 11 assists while accumulating 23 penalty minutes. He had played in 21 games with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins this year scoring 4 goals and 3 assists. Last year with the Baby Pens he played in 74 regular season games and 22 playoff games scoring a total of 14 goals and 20 helpers.

"It's been a really great experience. It's been an overwhelming couple days but it's a great time," Wallace told FSN's Dan Potash during the first intermission. Speaking about his first period as an NHL'er Wallace said, "It was real nerve-wracking all night, all day. To get that first shift out of the way was pretty good."

Wallace added that his parents were trying to make it in time for the big night as well, "They left at around 6:30 this morning from Alaska. I don't know if they made it yet but hopefully they did."

The Anchorage, Alaska native played four seasons at Notre Dame (CCHA), recording 59 points (25+34) in 153 games during four seasons (2002-2006) and never missing a game for the Irish. He also played two seasons for the U.S. Developmental Program and was a member of the Under 18 team that won a gold medal under head coach Mike Eaves in 2000.

Wallace is the 4th Nailer to make it to the NHL this season joining Paul Bissonnette (Pittsburgh, Cam Paddock (St. Louis) and John Curry (Pittsburgh).
