Duchesne's 33 Stops Propel Sea Wolves to 2-0 Victory Over Gwinnett
December 10, 2008 - ECHL (ECHL)
Mississippi Sea Wolves News Release
BILOXI, MS - Jeremy Duchesne stopped 33 shots, including a 2nd period penalty shot to preserve a lead, as the Mississippi Sea Wolves defeated the Gwinnett Gladiators 2-0 at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum on Wednesday night.
Mississippi got on the board at 3:35 of the second period when Jason Tejchma bounced a shot off of the left goalpost and Kyle McAllister was there to bang the loose puck past Gwinnett goaltender Kevin Nastiuk.
At 8:54 of the second, Gwinnett's Pat Bateman was awarded a penalty shot after being hauled down as he drove the net from the right wing. Sea Wolves goaltender Jeremy Duchesne matched Bateman's speed and denied his forehand attempt on the penalty shot with the right pad to preserve the Sea Wolves 1-0 lead.
Chris Brooks' second goal of the year at 15:53 of the third period gave the Sea Wolves a two-goal cushion, as his one-timer on a pass from Mike Berry was deflected and skipped past Nastiuk.
Jeremy Duchesne made 33 saves, including 14 in the third period, to earn his second win of the season, and Mississippi was 1-for-8 on the power play.
