Reading Royals News Release

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs of the National Hockey League and the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, today announced that forward Max Taylor has been loaned by the Marlies to Reading. The Royals previously acquired the ECHL rights to Taylor in a trade with the Johnstown Chiefs for future considerations. In separate transactions previously completed, the Royals activated defenseman Gerard Miller from the 3-Day Injured Reserve and placed forward Brock Hooton on the 3-Day Injured Reserve.

Taylor (5'10/185) (24), a second year pro who hails from Ottawa, Ontario, has yet to appear in a game in the 2008-09 season. Last year, Taylor, whose brother Danny is a goaltender with the Royals, scored twenty-five goals and picked up twenty assists (forty-five points) in fifty-seven regular season games with the Texas Wildcatters of the ECHL. Taylor, who had a stellar four year collegiate career at St. Lawrence University prior to turning pro, was called up to the Toronto Marlies in early March of 2008, where he scored two goals and assisted on three others in thirteen AHL games before being returned to the Wildcatters at the end of the regular season. Taylor was the second leading scorer for the Wildcatters in the ECHL playoffs, racking up five goals and six assists (eleven points) despite being limited only six playoff games. On April 20, 2008, in Game Two of the South Division Semi-Final match-up with the Columbia Inferno, Taylor scored three goals, including the game winner, and picked up two assists in the Wildcatters 6-2 win over the Inferno. However, Taylor sustained what proved to be a season ending injury late in that game.

Max Taylor is expected to be in the line-up tonight (December 10, 2008; 7:35 pm) when Reading travels to the E.J. Nutter Center in Dayton, Ohio, to take on the Dayton Bombers. Wednesday's game will be broadcast live on the Royals Radio Network Presented by Transmissions by Arbogast (True Oldies WRAW 1340 am in Reading; and The Ticket WLAN 1390 am in Lancaster), as well as on the internet via webcast hosted by Sportsjuice.com, which can be accessed through the Royals website.
