December 10, 2008 - ECHL (ECHL)
Florida Everblades News Release
ESTERO, FL - The Florida Everblades return to Germain Arena for the first time in almost a month this weekend after a season-long, nine-game road trip that spanned from November 20 - December 7. The Blades finished 7-1-1 on that trip to improve their ECHL-best winning percentage to .800 with a 15-3-2 overall record.
After traveling 3,617 miles during their 17-day trip, the Everblades welcome in the South Carolina Stingrays for a pair of games this Friday and Saturday nights, with both games starting at 7:30 p.m. In addition to the games, the Everblades have lots of other events planned for the weekend!
On Friday night the Everblades will be holding a special "retirement." During the first intermission the Everblades will be officially retiring the "Chicken Dance!" The playing of the song during the first intermission will be the last time it will ever be heard at an Everblades game!
On Saturday night the Everblades will be holding their annual "Teddy Bear Toss." The Everblades ask all fans who attend to bring with them a new, unwrapped stuffed toy to throw onto the ice after the Everblades score their first goal. The stuffed toys will then be distributed to SW Florida area youth charities including Toys for Tots and The Children's Hospital of SW Florida.
In addition to these events, starting this weekend the Everblades will feature two players at the South concourse souvenir stand signing autographs following the game! The players will be on hand to sign autographs for fans for 20 minutes immediately after the game ends. The post-game player autograph session will take place during all remaining Everblades home games!
Fans will also notice on the South Concourse a 12-foot Christmas Tree decorated with loads of Everblades memorabilia! This tree was donated by Trimmers Holiday Décor and will be up for auction. The proceeds raised from the auction will benefit Autism Speaks. Fans can bid on the tree starting at 5:00 p.m. on December 10 through 5:00 p.m. on December 20. The highest bidder will get to take the tree home with them! Visit www.floridaeverblades.com to place your bid!
Finally, with the Holiday season in full swing, the Everblades Pro Shop is holding a 48 hour jersey sale! For this Friday and Saturday ONLY all Everblades replica jerseys will be 25% off! Fans must visit the Pro Shop inside Germain Arena to receive the discount!
