Calgary Hitmen News Release
Medicine Hat, AB - Looking for the sweep of their home-and-home set with Medicine Hat, the Calgary Hitmen fell 3-2 to the Tigers on Thursday night at Co-op Place.
The Hitmen outshot the home side 43-22 but Washington Capitals prospect Garin Bjorklund made 41 saves to help steal the two points.
2022 NHL Draft prospect Grayden Siepmann paced the Hitmen scoring attack as the defenceman notched a goal and an assist. Zac Funk, with his 10th of the season, netted the other Hitmen marker while rookie Maxim Muranov chipped in a pair of assists.
The Tigers, who jumped out to a 2-0 lead before a crucial third period shorthanded tally made it 3-1, received a pair of goals from Tyler MacKenzie and a single from Noah Danielson.
The loss was the first in the season series for the Hitmen who had won three straight against their Trans-Canada rivals.
Calgary, 12-12-3-2, returns to Scotiabank Saddledome to ring in 2022 with a New Year's Day battle on Saturday, Jan. 1 against the Lethbridge Hurricanes. Game time is 2:00 p.m. Medicine Hat then swings by the 'Dome on Sunday, Jan. 2 for a 1:00 p.m. start.
