December 30, 2021 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Regina Pats News Release
Regina, Saskatchewan - The Regina Pats Hockey Club's Wednesday We Care Weekday game brought together Canada Life, the Brandt Group of Companies and SOFIA House for an on-ice presentation during their holiday-break three game home stretch.
A generous $15,000 donation from game night sponsor, Canada Life was matched by Brandt's Thanks A Billion Program for a total $30,000 donation to Regina's SOFIA House.
SOFIA House offers safe housing with a supportive and nurturing environment for women and children who are survivors of abuse. They provide on-site programming for clients and bring awareness to the impacts of women and children living in fear of violence.
"SOFIA House relies on the support of organizations like Brandt and Canada Life to help provide second stage housing and counselling services to those in need," says SOFIA House interim Executive Director, Karli Rasmussen. "We're extremely grateful to both organizations for their support and generosity. This gift will directly benefit women and children fleeing domestic violence in our community."
"At Canada Life, our focus is to improve the financial, physical and mental well-being of Canadians," says Jeff Macoun, President and Chief Operating Officer, Canada, Canada Life. "Recently, our employees nominated and voted for SOFIA House to receive one of our 2021 Seasonal Gifts - we knew this opportunity with Brandt and the Pats was the perfect way to double our impact and bring even more attention to the incredible work of SOFIA House," Macoun adds.
This is the Pats and Brandt's fourth We Care Weekday game that brings together Pats sponsors with their choice charity. Brandt has committed $220,000 in matching funds for the season. To date, $160,000 total funds have been raised for local community organizations.
"Tonight's We Care Weekday game brought the giving spirit of the holidays to the Brandt Centre," adds Pats COO, Trevor Buhnai. "We are grateful for the opportunity to bring these organizations together."
