NEWS & NOTES:
Modern History: Chad Nychuk's OT winner on Monday was his third extra-time winner of the season, the most by any WHL defenseman since Bowen Byram of the Vancouver Giants scored six in 18/19. It's also the most OT winners by a Wheat Kings defenseman in the modern post-internet era.
Sweet Seven: Washington Capitals prospect Vinny Iorio enters play tonight riding a seven game point streak. Iorio has at least a point in 12 of his last 13 games and has a point in all but one game in the month of December.
Alumni Check-in: On Tuesday, Kale Clague became the first Wheat King alumni to score a goal for the Montreal Canadiens since Chuck Lefley did it in the 1974/75 season. Prior to Clague joining the Habs via waivers last week, only three other Wheat King alumni had ties to the Canadiens. Lefley, Kelly Greenbank (Drafted in 1975) and Dan Tetrault (Drafted in 1997).
Empty Barn: Due to MB Government restrictions, tonight's game will be played with only essential game personnel in the building. It isn't super unique for this Wheat Kings club. Back in April, the Wheat Kings wrapped up the Subway Cup championship in front of a completely silent Brandt Centre in Regina.
