CRESTWOOD, IL - Max White tied a Frontier League record with three home runs drove in eight as the ThunderBolts defeated the River City Rascals 17-5 at Standard Bank Stadium Saturday night.
The Bolts (27-37) wasted no time in taking the lead, scoring three runs on four straight two-out hits in the first. White picked up an RBI triple, Cody Keefer had an RBI single and Ransom LaLonde knocked in a run on his first of two doubles.
River City (34-31) responded with four runs in the third to briefly take a one-run lead. Curran Redal, Brian Hansen and Josh Ludy had RBI hits.
After Gallagher doubled to begin the bottom of the inning, White put the Bolts on top for good with a two-run homer.
Gallagher and White went back-to-back in the fifth inning, driving in three runs in the process and extending the Windy City lead to 8-4.
After the Rascals got one run back, the ThunderBolts put the game away with a seven-run sixth. Alex Chittenden walked and Tyler Clark singled and Coco Johnson singled home Chittenden. Gallagher was intentionally walked to load the bases in front of White, who hit his third homer of the night, a grand slam to make the score 13-5. Marquis Riley's two-run double later in the inning put the Bolts up by ten.
Gallagher hit his second home run in the seventh inning and the Bolts capped the scoring with back-to-back doubles from Chittenden and Clark in the eighth.
Gallagher and White combined for eight hits, five home runs, nine runs scored and 11 RBIs in the game.
Zak Wasserman (3-3) allowed four runs in five innings for the win and Dane Stone (5-3) gave up seven runs in four innings for the loss.
