Thunder Trades For Goal Scorer

WICHITA, KS- The Wichita Thunder made several roster moves on Tuesday, led by the acquisition of center Ryan Campbell from the Mississippi RiverKings.

Campbell joins the Thunder with 140 goals scored and 317 total points in 315 career professional games. The 30-year old center had 14 goals and 33 points in 36 games for the RiverKings this season, his fourth in a Memphis/Mississippi sweater in the last five years. Campbell experienced remarkable production while playing in Italy last season, scoring 34 goals and 66 points in just 32 games for Vipiteno. The Edmonton, Alberta native was a CHL All-Star in 2008 and enters this season with four consecutive years of 20-plus goals and 60 -plus points. Campbell comes to Wichita via trade in exchange for veteran center Glenn Detulleo. Detulleo had four goals and 19 assists in 34 games.

Wichita also signed rookie forward Shane Foster and re-signed defenseman Brett Beauchamp. Foster appeared in 14 games for the Colorado Eagles this season, tallying two assists. Beauchamp appeared in five games for the Thunder earlier this season.

The Thunder waived forward Jay Henderson who plans to travel overseas to play in England. Campbell, Foster, and Beauchamp are expected to be in the lineup Thursday when the Thunder battles the Mudbugs.

The Thunder plays three times in three nights beginning Thursday night at Bossier-Shreveport. Wichita heads to the BOK Center on Friday to face the Oilers before both Wichita and Tulsa travel back north for the opening of the INTRUST Bank Arena on Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. Over 8,000 seats have already been sold.
