January 19, 2010 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Mississippi RiverKings News Release
SOUTHAVEN, MS --- The Mississippi RiverKings of the Central Hockey League (CHL) today announced the team has acquired forward Glenn Detulleo from the Wichita Thunder. The RiverKings are also receiving future considerations in the deal that sends forward Ryan Campbell to the Thunder.
Detulleo, a 5-7, 170 pound native of Timmins, Ontario, is in his ninth season of professional hockey and first in the Central Hockey League. Glenn will rejoin RiverKings Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Kevin Kaminski, who coached Detulleo with the Missouri River Otters of the United Hockey League during the 2004-05 season.
"Tools (DeTulleo) is going to bring a great work ethic and leadership to this team," said Kaminski. "He is a great faceoff guy who plays with an edge and grit."
Detulleo's professional career has included three seasons of hockey in Norway and Germany, before returning to the United States to play with the River Otters for the 2004-05 season. He has also played with the Quad City Mallards (Moline, Illinois), Kalamazoo Wings and Elmira Jackals in the UHL and IHL, and started in the CHL with the Thunder this season.
In 34 games with Wichita, Detulleo has scored four goals and has 19 assists for 23 points with 22 penalty minutes.
Detulleo's career highs offensively came last year with Kalamazoo, where he netted 26 goals and added 55 assists for 81 points. Glenn also collected 68 penalty minutes that season. He opened last season with a seven-game point streak and scored at least one point in 49 of the 70 games played on Kalamazoo's schedule.
In last year's IHL playoffs, Detulleo added an assist and eight PIMS in six games for the Wings.
This season, Detulleo's best offensive night came with three assists in a 3-2 win over Arizona on November 20th in Wichita. That effort was part of a season-long six-game point streak of ten points, all assists. Detulleo has had five games of two or more points in one contest.
Kaminski notes Detulleo will also bring speed and great vision to the forward line. "He has put up great numbers every year," Kaminski said. "We welcome him to the RiverKings family."
Campbell leaves the RiverKings after netting 14 goals and 19 assists for 33 points in 36 games along with 14 penalty minutes. Six of Campbell's goals were on the power play, one was shorthanded, and two goals were game-winners.
The RiverKings meet up with the Missouri Mavericks this weekend at the DeSoto Civic Center in Southaven. Games Friday and Saturday nights will start at 7:05 PM both nights.
Friday's game is Faith and Family Night with the Samaritans and Entergy's Power to Care Partnership will be spotlighted as the non-profit MVP of the night.
Saturday is Ducks Unlimited/Pack the House/Arena White Out Night, supporting the efforts of Ducks Unlimited. Fans coming to Saturday's game are asked to wear white for an arena "white out" at Saturday's game.
Both nights, fans will be able to support Compassion International's efforts to provide relief for victims of the recent earthquake in Haiti. People representing Compassion Internation will be stationed at each entrance to the building Friday and Saturday nights giving fans a chance to contribute. One-hundred percent of the money raised will go directly to the Haitian earthquake relief effort.
