
Thunder to Hold Benefit Night for Wounded Soldier Jonathon Blank

WICHITA, KS- The Wichita Thunder and Thankful American Civilians (TAC), announced today that they will hold a benefit night for USMC Sgt. Jonathon Blank on Saturday, February 19 when the Thunder battles the Tulsa Oilers at INTRUST Bank Arena.
USMC Sgt. Jonathon Blank, 1st Marine Recon was hit with an IED on October 26 in Afghanistan when his team was fighting to take over a compound held by insurgents. Jonathon, a native of Augusta, Kansas lost both legs and sustained serious internal injuries. Jonathon will have many new challenges and added expenses to his life, including the need to purchase a new vehicle with a wheelchair lift as a means of transportation to gain his independence back, as well as many modifications to his house and simply adjusting to life.
The Wichita Thunder is teaming up with the local American Legions, American Legion Riders, Sons of the American Legion, and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary to sell out the game on February 19th & help Jonathon! Bring your small hand held U.S. flags and have the chance to win some great prizes. Come out and enjoy a night of Thunder Hockey and help support one of America's Heroes!
The Thunder will hold a ceremony prior to the opening face-off on this night, including a video, numerous Color Guards, a re-enactment of the flag raising at Mount Sarabachi on Iwo Jima and a ceremonial puck drop by Jonathan's family. Fans can get discount coupons for the event at numerous locations around Sedgwick County. A generous portion of the proceeds purchased with these coupons will go to Jonathon.
