
Allen throttles Bucks

ALLEN, Texas- The first place Allen Americans crushed the Laredo Bucks 6-1 tonight in front of 5,413 at the Laredo Energy Arena in Laredo, TX. The win advances Allen's league best record to 29-7-1 (59 points) and extends the team's winning streak to five games.
The Americans opened the scoring with a power play goal 5:22 into the first period when Jarret Lukin's wrister beat Laredo netminder Torrie Jung to put the Americans on top 1-0. Dave Bonk and Tobias Whelan were credited with the assists on the play.
Colton Yellow Horn extended the Americans lead to 2-0 5:35 later after racing in on a 2-on-1 with Bruce Graham and blasting the puck past Jung. The goal extended Yellow Horn's point streak to 5 games.
Yellow Horn added his second of the night and made it a 3-0 game 15:27 into the period with the Americans second power play tally of the night. The goal was Yellow Horn's fifteenth of the season.
Jarret Lukin struck again with 4:10 remaining in the period to extend the Americans lead to 4-0. The goal ended the night for Torrie Jung, who was replaced by David Wilson after allowing 4 goals on 13 shots.
Tobias Whelan's breakaway tally with 3:44 remaining in the period put Allen ahead 5-0 and closed out a wild opening 20 minutes of play.
David Nimmo scored the middle frame's lone goal 3:02 into the period to make it a 6-0 game. Tobias Whelan and David Simoes were credited with the assists on Nimmo's eighth goal of the season.
Chris Whitley finished the period with 11 saves and was a perfect 20 for 20 through forty minutes of play.
Laredo's Daniel Koger scored with 7:54 remaining in regulation to end Whitley's shut-out bid, but the Bucks would be unable to inch any closer.
Chris Whitley, the game's third star, finished the evening with 29 saves on 30 shots and is now 4-0 since returning from injury.
The Americans will complete their home-and-home series with the Bucks tomorrow night with a 7:00 PM puck drop at the Allen Event Center. Allen will then face-off against the Rapid City Rush on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 PM before welcoming the Tulsa Oilers on Wednesday night and the Texas Brahmas on Friday night.
