WICHITA, KS- The Wichita Thunder today announced their schedule for the 2003-04 season, their 12th in the 17-team Central Hockey League (CHL).

The Thunder will drop the puck with a pair of home games at the Kansas Coliseum, on Friday, October 17th vs. the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs and Saturday, October 18th versus the Tulsa Oilers. Both games will face-off at 7:30 p.m.

Wichita will host 26 of their 32 home games on weekends, including nine Saturday evening contests. The Thunder will open the season playing five of their first six games at home and will also play five of their final seven games at the Coliseum.

Some of the other highlights to the home schedule include a two-game weekend set with Tulsa in late December, an 11:00 a.m. contest on Wednesday March 10th, and a total of five games versus the CHL's two newest teams, the Colorado Eagles and the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees.

The Thunder will play a total of 33 games versus teams in their own division and 50 games versus teams in the Northern Conference. Wichita will play in the five-team Northwest Division, along with Tulsa, Colorado, Oklahoma City and New Mexico. The top four teams in each conference will qualify for the postseason.

Wichita will host 12 different teams at the Coliseum this season, including the first ever appearance by the Laredo Bucks. The Thunder will also play road games in 13 different cities. Every team in the CHL will face the Thunder at least once, with the exception of the Corpus Christi Rayz. All 64 games this season will be broadcast on KFTI AM 1070 "The Ranch."

Thunder season ticketholders will get an added bonus in their package this year, a free ticket for every seat purchased to a Thunder road game in both Tulsa on Saturday November 29th and Oklahoma City on Saturday, January 24th. Season tickets for the 2003-04 season are still on sale, starting at just $198.

The Thunder, who will open training camp on Monday, October 6th, will also play three exhibition games. Wichita will host Oklahoma City on Thursday, October 9th and Tulsa on Saturday, October 11th. Both games will face-off at 7:00 p.m. at Ice Sports Wichita. Wichita will play in Tulsa on Friday, October 10th at 7:00 p.m.
