Gorillas add to local ownership group

AMARILLO, TX – The Amarillo Gorillas local ownership group continues to grow as a they have signed a new member.

Shaughn O'Grady, who has grown up in Amarillo and currently owns and operates Irish Springs on Westgate Parkway West was welcomed to the Hockey Sports of Amarillo Group.

"On behalf of the ownership, it is great to have a long time resident and successful businessman like Shaughn O'Grady on the ownership group," said Gorillas General Manager Partner Gary Thach. "Shaughn and his family have been long time supporters of hockey in Amarillo and we're thrilled to have his expertise on board."

O'Grady, 42, is married to his wife Kara and has a daughter, McKenzie, who is an accomplished figure skater in the community. Shaughn O'Grady is a graduate of Amarillo High School.

"My daughter is Amarillo's main figure skater right now and I want to help develop a figure skating club that was one of the many reasons we got involved in the ownership group," O'Grady said. "We are excited to be joining such a good group of people."

The Amarillo Gorillas will open their 2003-2004 Central Hockey League regular season on Friday, October 18 when they travel to Lubbock to face their division rival the Cotton Kings at 7 p.m. The Gorillas home opener is set for Friday, October 24 when the Gorillas entertain the expansion Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees at 7 p.m.
