Mudbugs Announce 2003-04 Schedule

BOSSIER CITY, LA â The Central Hockey League released its 2003-04 schedule today and the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs will begin their seventh season on October 17, 2003.
The 64-game campaign begins in Wichita as the Mudbugs meet the Thunder at the Kansas Coliseum for the opening game and then travel to Indianapolis to play the Ice on October 18th. The first of 32 home games will then take place on October 24th with the Mudbugs hosting the Austin Ice Bats at the CenturyTel Center.
Of the Mudbugs' home contests, eleven will be played on Friday nights and ten will fall on Saturday nights. Every team in the Central Hockey League will make at least one appearance at the CenturyTel Center, with the lone exception being the Odessa Jackalopes.
"If you look at our schedule, I think our fans are going to be treated to some great hockey here in Bossier-Shreveport," said Mudbugs General Manager Jason Rent. "The 2003-04 schedule gives everyone a chance to see all the talent in the league and this year we've got a lot planned to make each night a great experience at the CenturyTel Center. "
The Mudbugs will play against members of the Northeast Division on 29 different occasions this year, including twelve games against the Memphis RiverKings, nine against the Fort Worth Brahmas, and eight against the Indianapolis Ice. Meanwhile, two new opponents have joined the Northwest Division, including the expansion Colorado Eagles who make their first ever visit to the CenturyTel Center on Sunday February 8, 2004. The Mudbugs also have two games against the New Mexico Scorpions, who moved from the Southwest Division and joined the Northern Conference.
The month of November will feature eight home games for the Bugs, including one of two four-game homestands on the 2003-04 campaign. Games at the CenturyTel Center will once again start at 7:05 p.m., with the exception of four Sunday games with 5:05 p.m. faceoffs.
Other notable dates on the 2003-04 Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs schedule include their first ever game against the expansion Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees on January 10, 2004 at the Rio Grande Valley Event Center and their first trip to Colorado on January 23rd. The 2003-04 season then concludes with Rio Grande Valley's first visit to the CenturyTel Center on Sunday March 14th.
